1. Optional scrollbars in new Groupworld user interface
Our new Groupworld user interface now supports optional scrollbars for scrolling. To enable scrollbars for a room, simply tick the Scrollbars tickbox when editing/creating the room in the Groupworld control panel.
2. WebRTC high quality video and audio in Groupworld
All new Groupworld web conferencing rooms now use WebRTC by default for much improved video and audio quality, using less bandwidth. (The quality should be identical to Google Hangouts, as it is the same technology that is used for Hangouts).
To use WebRTC with existing rooms, simply edit the room in the Groupworld control panel and choose "use WebRTC".
To try out the new WebRTC feature, go to:
Groupworld demosthen click on one of the demos and connect with another person (or else open two browser windows, and log into one of the demos rooms with both).
3. Configurable video window size in Groupworld
The size of the video in Groupworld can now be set to any specific size (rather than just small or large). To set the size of the video windows, simply set the "Optional video width" and "Optional video height" parameters in the hosted Groupworld control panel (or via the
4. Option to keep background image after clearing
An optional feature has been added to both Groupboard and Groupworld allowing you to keep the current background image when clearing the page. Just add &keep_background_on_clear=true to the Groupboard url, or set it via the API or control panel.
5. Pinch zoom available on Chrome desktop in Groupworld
Groupworld now supports pinch zoom via the touchpad on desktop (PC/Mac) Chrome. (Mobile pinch zoom was already supported). This allows you to easily zoom in and out using your PC or Mac touchpad.
6. Firefox now fully supports drag+drop, for Groupworld
Firefox version 50 now fully supports the HTML5 drag+drop API. This means that you can now drag+drop images from other websites into Groupworld, and you can also use the equation editor (in the math tools) with Firefox.
(Chrome already had full support for drag+drop).
7. Option to prevent eraser from erasing background image in Groupworld
An option has been added to Groupworld to make the eraser not delete the background image. This option can be enabled in control panel ("Make eraser restore background"), or via the API (the "use_background_canvas" option).
8. Vimeo recording upload now available in Groupworld
We can now offer automatic uploading of Groupworld recordings to Vimeo (instead of YouTube), for 25+ user licenses. Please contact us to set this up.
Vimeo has the advantage of allowing more scope for restricting who can view your videos, as well as the ability to embed videos in your website and prevent them from being viewed from anywhere else.
9. Improved highlighter tool in Groupworld
We have improved quality of highlighter tool in Groupworld so that it now draws more smoothly, without jagged edges. (It now looks the same as the highlighter tool in Groupboard Designer).
