New Groupboard Google+ Hangout App!
We have just added the ability to use Groupboard within a google+ hangout - just click on the "g+ hangout" button at www.groupboard.com. The Groupboard hangout app allows you to draw together with up to 4 other users on a collaborative whiteboard with audio/video conferencing. The app is free to use and currently has no adverts.
Extra storage space for 25-user Groupworld license
We have recently increased the maximum file space from 1GB to 4GB for the 25-user hosted Groupworld licenses. We have also made it so that users viewing recordings do not now count towards your user limit. For more information on Groupworld licenses, see www.groupworld.net.
Desktop sharing now has 'allow control' feature on Mac
We have made an update to the Mac OS X version of the Groupworld web conferencing plugin to enable the "allow control" feature in desktop sharing. Previously you could not give control of your desktop to other users on a Mac (or at least, it would not work as expected in all cases). The new plugin fixes this issue and desktop sharing control now works perfectly on the Mac, allowing you to share your desktop in Groupworld and optionally give other users control of your mouse/keyboard by ticking the 'allow control' button.
To get the new feature if you are an existing Groupworld customer, simply update the Mac Groupworld plugin on your computer by clicking here:
http://www.groupworld.net/groupworld_plugin.pkg
(If using Windows, you don't need to update).
Using the non-java (html5/ajax) version of Groupboard
Given the recent security problems that java has been having, this is a quick reminder that you can avoid using java for Groupboard and Groupboard Designer by adding "&ajax=true" (without the quotes) to the link for your Groupboard. This forces Groupboard to use ajax/html5 instead of java.
This is not an issue for Groupworld (as Groupworld doesn't use java).
Equation editor added to Groupworld
We have just added an equation editor to the math tutoring tools in Groupworld. This allows you to type in equations, which are then formatted and copied into the whiteboard. To see a demo, go to:
http://www.groupworld.net/math_tutoring_conference.html
(the equation editor is the sqrt(x) icon at the top-right).
